QNAP NASes without thunderbolt don't have drivers for it, so you can't connect it via USB 3.2 either. QTS(5.1.5) just doesn't see it. Windows 11 can see it via USB 3.2, but the drivers are only written for thunderbolt. After switching to the correct USB-c with TB support, the adapter started up. It's a shame because you won't use the 40Gb/s speed and could run over 10Gb/s USB 3.2. One would just expect normal compatibility when you already have a fast enough USB port. HW would probably not be a problem, just write it into the drivers. So I only rate once *, because QNAP NASes with TB usually already have Tengig ports or have a PCIe slot. So who needs this adapter anyway? A completely useless thing for the QNAP world.

Not applicable to most QNAP NAS with 1Gig and 2.5Gig ports.

It has built-in active cooling, it is quite audible. Volume roughly like a laptop under load with the propeller on.
