I originally bought it as an overpriced design kettle to match the other appliances in the kitchen. But I'm surprised I got anything more than a plain red fast-fill. Probably the biggest surprise is how quiet it is compared to other kettles (it almost bothered me at first, because you can't hear it boiling from a distance) - at the same time it is the faster of the kettles (>2000W) that tend to be noisier. The last little thing that pleased are the internal risers for 1,2 and 3 cups of coffee/tea. The price is relatively high, but usually my kettle lasts 5+ years (another has been in service for 13 years), so it doesn't really matter.
