BTD700 is not mapped (device manager) as a bluetooth device, but as a sound card
it is not a bluetooth (BT) v5.4 dongle, but a sound card (with BT v5.4) in the form of a dongle
the sound card uses the aptX platform/Qualcom codec
because it bypasses the BT stack the delay in aptX LoLatency is around 30ms (instead of the standard approx 200ms which is distracting when watching video and a disaster for games).
W11 (or iOS). exe app can update firmware and (mainly) switch between aptX modes, pkus broadcast modem. the set mode is indicated by the LED colour
pairing for the above reasons is not classic, but via a button on the dongle
the only, not insignificant advantage for regular BT headphones (using the default SBC codec) is the above mentioned delay reduction
seamless pairing with all hearing aids. kits, especially the top end ones (e.g. B&W Px)
price 5x higher due to licensed hw and sw compared to std BT dongle v5.4 containing BT chip for $0.5 and no licensed sw
settings more complicated than std. BT dongle, but completely seamless (W11 exe app downloads from manufacturer's site)

I was pleasantly surprised by the BTD 700. I bought it as a more modern alternative to the FiiO BTA30 Pro mainly for wireless use with the Cambridge Audio Melomania P100 SE headphones.Compared to the FiiO, the BTD 700 has a major advantage for me in that it supports the more modern Bluetooth standard and especially the aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless codecs. In practice, this means that with compatible headphones, it can offer a higher quality and clearer connection than the FiiO BTA30 Pro, which is great as a universal audio hub, but not so ideal for newer wireless headphones. I would still recommend the FiiO BTA30 Pro to someone who wants a desktop centre with more inputs and wider use Another big plus is the simplicity. I just plug in the BTD 700 and it works.

When you get it, a little trouble with pairing at first. There are only 2 mods even though the internet says maybe 3-4. It's only usable in the game mod where you don't have any delay but it happens that with more sound output like in production it cracks a lot. Finally, I use the headphone charging cable as a sound source.
