I am writing this review after a year of use. We used to have a Siemens built-in oven with similar controls as well. What disappointed me was the timer controls. With our old oven, we also used it as a timer, for example for boiling eggs. All you had to do was press the timer button and set the minutes using the right-hand dial. It was intuitive and quick. It’s a bit of a shame about the new oven – you have to set the time using the plus and minus buttons, which takes ages, so we’ve stopped using it. Why did they ruin something that was perfect? It’s quicker to set the timer via the app, but I don’t always want to rush over to my mobile and search for the app. Another drawback is that not all heating modes are accessible via the left-hand rotary control, so, for example, you can only switch on the bottom heating via the app. With the old oven, however, the heating symbol was shown on the display above the control panel, and the number of heating modes on the control panel was therefore unlimited. The advantage of the new oven is that I can select a recipe in the app and, with a single click, send the cooking mode, temperature and timer to the oven. Even so, the 20-year-old oven was better for me.
