For a long time I read only praise about Sony WF-1000XM3 headphones everywhere. I was particularly interested in the praise of ANC (noice cancelling), so it was one of those that I would like to have at home. Some time ago there was a sale thanks to the arrival of a new model (WF-1000xm4), so for the price of 3000 CZK I could not resist. But the headphones are a big disappointment for me. Sound-wise they are not bad, but at the same time they are not exceptional - if I compare them with Jabra, Bose, Sennheiser, Apple Airpods. But that wasn't so crucial for me and would have been enough for listening. But I have a problem with the ANC, which I was looking forward to and which was described as one of the best on the market. The headphones do manage to slightly "shield" ambient noises, but it is far beyond my expectations. When I had the opportunity to compare the ANC with the Bose QuietControl 30, the Bose result is completely different. If I turned on ANC on the Bose and was in a room where multiple people were talking, their conversations were barely audible, if someone spoke to me, I had to take the headphones off to hear. The Sony WF-1000XM3 can't do that either. If no sound is coming into them, I feel like they're not even ANC headphones. The feeling is only slightly better than with headphones without ANC (Jabra, Sennheiser,. ). When riding Sony public transport with music or a spoken podcast on, they can suppress ambient noises so that the spoken word can be understood and the music can be listened to, but from my point of view this is insufficient and the music cannot be enjoyed much (it is disturbed by background noise), so again against Bose for me insufficient. To make sure that something is not set wrong I have been going through the settings according to the internet and support. Then I had a chance to try another piece to see if it was just a problem of mine and the result was the same. Another disappointment for me was the audio navigation in the headphones. It may tell you at length after switching it on that they are on and how much battery is left (pretty unnecessarily lengthy), but to tell you that you have an incoming call and read the number or name of the caller, not so much. It also doesn't say anything to end the call. Golden Jabras. The last thing that irritates me is the inability to manually turn the headphones off and on. It's relatively nice that they turn on and pair themselves when you put them on, but the problem is that they often do this even when you have them in your pocket, so they discharge unnecessarily. You can't turn them off manually, only set them to turn off after 5 minutes of removal (which is a bit problematic when placed in a pocket and they "self-discharge". The only way out is to put them in a box. But you don't want to carry it everywhere because it's big and heavy, so why carry it when you might have enough charge, right? The fit in the ear is not bad, although I've had headphones that fit better, but this is a pretty individual thing and there are so many attachments that you can usually find what suits you. The endurance is in line with what is described on the internet, but for me there is a problem with "spontaneous discharge", which I see as a problem. With high expectations I am disappointed, even at a price of 3000 CZK, if I take into account the original price, for me totally inadequate (ANC, user functionality), so I can no longer recommend them. Better to look for Bose or Jabra.
