I had the opportunity to try real cheekbone headphones for a few weeks - the Aftershokz Aeropex (now renamed Shokz OpenRun). These headphones (Swissten Gym) are NOT cheekbone headphones. This is a misleading advertisement and product description - "Sound is then transmitted to the inner ear through the cheekbones by vibration, making you a part of the surrounding environment. “. Although the headphones rest on the sides of the head near the ears, the sound is transmitted through the air (this corresponds to the "Air Conduction" in the name).
If I were to simply describe the difference: With the headphones on your cheekbones, you can hear everything around you and the music just exists and you don't know where it's coming from. With the Swissten Gym headphones, you feel like you've taken your earbuds out of your ears and are holding them 1cm from your ear. Unfortunately, this causes you to not actually hear your surroundings (better than with on-ear headphones, but worse than with real cheekbone headphones)
The headphones themselves are not, for the price, completely bad. The workmanship seems to be fine and quite good. The only problem is that they are simply not cheekbone headphones, but "ordinary" sports headphones around the ears.
