It really bothers me too much when someone does things that are useless. What is a toaster for, which has such shallow hotplates that everything between the breads, after closing, immediately flows out and flows into the table and into the appliance. The old toaster had an inch-high plate and could be worked with. They probably did it with their brains at the time, not money.
