After using it for about half a year it stopped working and shows nonsensical temperatures. The problem is obviously in the thermometer swivel joint when opening the thermometer reacts.

We bought the first one on the mall, it stopped working after about 10 days, we bought it on alza, it stopped working after about a month, so we got our hands on the third piece and it lasted about 6 months even! Now it is measuring wrong again, it jumps values in seconds like -42, 7, -12, 56 and similar nonsense. We use it to measure the temperature of baby milk, food and baby bath water. So we didn't need anything complicated, we just had to stick the rod out, press the button and wait a while. Now I find it really dangerous when they measure it like that.

It doesn't show the temperature instantly, it takes a little while to show, so when something is taking temperature quickly it may not be the most reliable, if you're working with something like that a more pro thermometer is probably better. It is sufficient for normal kitchen measurements. I've measured both sugar brew and heated egg whites with it and it's always done the trick, so even though it has a slower response, it's obviously been enough.
