Simple, cheap but surprisingly good joystick. The return spring is set just right-the control of the spaceship is precise and reliable.
The buttons on the joystick are not programmable. But the combination of keyboard mouse and joystick makes controlling the spaceship enjoyable. But it's probably not suitable for combat - but great for ordinary spaceflight.

no doubt it is not smooth, in fact it forces movement in 4 directions and "circular" movement like when controlling an airplane is very uncomfortable
has only 4 buttons which makes it virtually impossible to use elsewhere than in flight/space simulators
the third button (above the index finger) is so sensitive that it is often pressed accidentally
