Unfortunately, the Google Chromecast has only a single USB-C port to power the device. If you connect it to the TV, that's usually enough. But when connected to a monitor it's quite limiting, the sound has to be either built into the monitor or you have to connect it via Bluetooth. A regular USB-C hub will add more USB ports, but it will take a single port to power the Chromecast. This device is the solution. And there's a cheaper option without an RJ45 port if you're comfortable connecting the Chromecast to a LAN over WiFi.
