It's working. I no longer need to copy movies to my phone - I can simply play them directly from the USB drive.
Tested on Samsung A03 and A04 mobile phones. It worked with several USB flash drives and 2.5" HDDs without any problems.
The connected storage medium must be formatted exFAT to be able to write to it. (The NTFS format is read-only. )
