Saving files works well. The other features will take about a month to figure out how they work.
My first experience with Cloud. Incredibly complex to operate and understand. Once plugged in, it will update to the new version of the operating system. Then you will find that all the manuals you can find are for some other operating system. My Cloud has many uses, unfortunately you need to download apps for each option. I've had the thing for 2 weeks now, I still don't understand which app how it works. I also registered the product as it offered me during installation. Today I found out that I can't log in and it prompts me to continue via "I forgot my password", which is not true. Describing the negative experiences would probably take a novel.
After initial attempts, I finally uninstalled the WD apps on my computer for syncing and backing up directories and am using the W10 tools for backing up files. I will either transfer the W10 bit backup using xcopy or use the option to backup an external drive connected via USB to MyCloud. (W10 Home, as far as I know, cannot back up an image directly to the NAS. And I've already used the image twice after updating to W10 1809 😕. )
The palm works without any problems.
Relatively quiet even under load.
I use RAID1 (mirroring).
The configuration was not particularly complicated.
I can easily access the NAS from the outside via mobile apps.
I found WD's PC apps WD sync and WD backup a bit cumbersome and didn't do what I expected them to do.
The web interface is not always the clearest. For example, it took me a while to figure out how to empty the recycle bin in the NAS
On the dasboard of the web interface I would expect info about the trash can.
I struggled to get the NAS to see the WD My Passport external drive connected via USB. I don't even know how I did it in the end.
Terribly noisy, slow transfer speed. The rear USB 3 goes at a max speed of 5MB/s, it's been addressed for 3 years on the WD forum but they haven't done anything about it until now. If you put the NAS to sleep or turn it off, you can't wake it up remotely. You have to unplug it and plug it back in to wake it up.
I'm not demanding. I just need to back up and view videos, photos and music. This is all he does. There is also remote access to files from anywhere over the internet. At home, I stream to my TV or hifi device via Chromecast and control it with my phone. Everything works as I need it to.
I've been using it for a short time, but so far I haven't found any negatives.
