after copying files from another external drive to this SSD, my computer reported that the SSD was overfilled, while it should theoretically have about 1 TB reserve. That is, every file I transferred took up about twice as much space on it as I expected, and I couldn't fit all the data I needed to store on this SSD. I was about to buy another SSD because of this. Then I noticed that the SSD was formatted in exFAT from the factory. After reformatting to NTFS everything is fine, the transferred files are still their normal size and I can use the full capacity of this handy little external SSD.
the cable is fixed, hopefully something will last

I plugged in my computer for the first time (Windows 10) and there was no need to do anything at all, I just backed up the photos and that was it
