It picks up cooking smells so even though we have an almost connected kitchen to the living room nothing is smelled and before that everything was smelled.
It'll work beautifully for a conventional hood.
2x in the package means one normal filter and one anti-odour filter. Someone wrote that he cut it into two filters but I can't imagine the size of the hood.
