I use it as a 5.1 amplifier for PC, so I can only evaluate the audio. So for me the disadvantage of needing HDMI for detailed distance adjustment of individual speakers etc. I don't use wifi, I can't judge.
The SB AE-7 can also play DTS and DD passthru, but it is necessary to switch the output in the computer - not a problem of the receiver. For DLNA, be careful not to have a switch that will jam these packets: )
