This perfume is a very successful interpretation of the renowned niche gem Elysium by Roja Parfums. The opening is wonderfully dry, clean and luxurious – dominated by grapefruit, lime and bergamot. No unpleasant whiff of synthetic alcohol; from the very first moment, it’s an incredibly refined and mature composition. Once the initial burst of citrus has subsided a little, the fragrance takes on a deeper, more sophisticated character. Dry vetiver, juniper and black pepper come to the fore, blending in the base notes with subtle hints of leather and cedarwood. The fragrance lacks any cloying Arabian sweetness. He gives a very clean-cut, masculine and aristocratic impression. It is the perfect choice for the office, business meetings or everyday wear on warmer days for anyone who wants to exude calm and authority. The original source material from the niche world is often criticised for its lack of staying power. Zimaya, however, managed it much better. The fragrance lasts for 6 to 7 hours on the skin, and you can still smell it on your clothes for even longer. The scent is elegant – it doesn’t overwhelm those around you like heavy oriental fragrances, but it reliably creates a luxurious aura around you. What’s more, the bottle is solid, heavy and beautifully crafted. For the money, it’s an absolutely brilliant buy.
