Svetlo, ktoré zo svojho prirodzeného nepolarizovaného stavu prešlo cez polarizátor (alebo lom svetla) do stavu polarizovaného. Nepolarizované svetlo je elektromagnetické žiarenie kmitajúce vo všetkých smeroch. Po polarizáciu žiarenia kmitá len v jednej rovine. Jeho využitie je v rade odvetví, od elektroniky, kinematografie a fyziky, až po hojenie rán na koži.
