Downhill ski boots consist of two parts - the outer shell and the inner boot. These boots are designed for practicality and their main task is to ensure that the leg and foot stay still, which is necessary for precise ski control. When choosing your ski boots, focus on the size, width and flex.

Flex index

The flex index tells you how stiff a boot shell is. A higher rating means stiffer boots, suitable for more advanced skiers. The chart below lists ideal flex ratings for average weight skiers (men - 85 kg women - 65 kg). The ideal flex index rises with the skier’s weight.
