Cordless Lawn Mowers

Cordless mowers have similar properties as electric mowers . They are lightweight, quiet and virtually maintenance free. Compared to electric mowers they are powered by the built-in rechargeable battery and remove their biggest drawback - the need to work with a cable. The disadvantage is a higher purchase price. Ideal for mowing smaller lawns.

What to focus on when selecting a cordless mower

Capacity and battery charge time

Battery capacity affects the endurance to mow the lawn in one charge. It is measured often in increments of 30 minutes. Manufacturers often indicate the approximate dimensions of the area to cut down in one charge. The addition to the actual capacity of the battery also depends on the density and length of the lawn. The longer and thicker the lawn, the less endurance it will have.

2-3 hrs - on a single charge can mow about 300 m².
3-4 hrs - on a single charge can mow 400 to 500 sqm.
Battery charging time ranges from 1-3 hours. It depends on the model.

The mowing of large lawns over 1000 m² we recommend a petrol mower.

Cutting height adjustment

Mowing height can usually be adjusted in several steps, the range is usually 20-80 mm. If mowing is delayed for several weeks and you want to cut to the lowest level possible it is better to mow the lawn first coarsely and then again at a lower level.

Cutting width

For cordless mowers the range is from 320 to 430 mm. Wider range is better suited to lawns without obstacles (ie trees, shrubs etc.) smaller mowers are better at getting into difficult to reach places, such as around tree trunks.

Volume catcher

Usually from 30 to 65 litres. The advantage of larger bins is less frequent emptying but the disadvantage is the high weight when it is full.

Useful features cordless mowers

Two batteries - one battery can be charged while the other is being used.
Boost - quick charger to recharge handle about 80% of capacity in half an hour.
Central height adjustment - all the wheels are height-adjustable
Height adjustable handles - can be set for both high and low figure.
Travel - self-propelled mower you do not push it. For some models, you can also set a specific speed.
Function mulching - mulching blade cuts the grass into small pieces, which serves as a fertilizer.
Edge cuting - structural solution where the width of the rotating blade is almost identical to the width of the mower. It can mow so close to the wall, curb or sidewalk.
