Replaced the previous Philips at almost twice the price, which self-destructed during the FW update. The Denon is not a whit worse at playing surround sound movies. Conversely, it is much better at playing stereo music, thanks to the Pure mode, which reduces signal processing. Smaller power is sufficient for apartments. You won't get HiFi stereo or a true cinematic experience from it, but at this price it doesn't really have any significant weaknesses. It has a pretty nicely tuned sound, there aren't many features, but the ones it has are really useful and helpful. I am very satisfied.
