This is my first KVM switch and I was pleasantly surprised that it works exactly as it should. I plugged one output into laptop 1 and the other into laptop 2. Switching between devices with the button is simple and instantly connects the keyboard and mouse to the selected laptop. So, in terms of functionality, great. However, I had to return the product after a week due to a fundamental problem. The KVM switch was discharging my laptop, which was not active. About 90% of the time I use laptop 1, so the switch was practically always set to port 1. Laptop 2 was turned off and not in use, yet within a few days it had lost about 20% of its battery. To verify, I physically disconnected the KVM switch from laptop 2. After a few days, the battery was at the same level. Once I reconnected the device and turned the laptop off, the situation repeated itself and again the battery dropped by about 20%. It is therefore clear that the KVM switch draws power even from a switched-off laptop, even if its port is not actively selected. I consider this a major disadvantage. If I have to manually disconnect the USB cables all the time, the KVM switch becomes meaningless. If you have devices that are permanently connected to power (PC, console), this product may be a good choice. However, if you use laptops without permanent charging, I recommend you consider an alternative.
