If they are new, they clean perfectly.
As long as I was using a regular Curaprox toothbrush recommended by my dentist and brushing my teeth with it daily, the quality was not worth much. Since Oral B IO, I only go to the dentist for compliments. Only he's disappointed that the result isn't from a manual brush.
My wife bought the kids a Philips SonyCare based on the amazing reviews, the kind that sniffles back and forth. After the dentist repeatedly stated that the children's teeth were very poorly cleaned, there was nothing to do but to make a change. After half a year, the dentist already praised.
Rotational movement. Even with a regular 2-pencil rotary brush that came with GP batteries 20 years ago, I had better results than with Philips SoniCare today.
If you were under the impression that the heads are expensive and so you won't be replacing them after the prescribed 3 months, you'd better not buy it at all. After 3 months, it cleans miserably and can't make up for it even with 15-minute cleanings. The new heads clean perfectly.
Don't read that nonsense that says in the instructions that you just need to clean for 90 seconds or 2 minutes. On each tooth you need to hold for a few seconds and change the position a little so that the threads do not keep going in the same places. It takes four minutes. And push from the end of the tooth to the gum.
Initially, the gums bleed. If you've brushed your teeth with a manual toothbrush before, they will bleed after the first touch. You have to hang in there, it's going to get better every day. Similar to the use of interdental brushes.
For children under 10, the toothbrush is definitely not a substitute for parents. The better versions of the toothbrush show which tooth you have held on to, but it doesn't tell you anything about the quality. It is necessary to force the fibres to work properly at the point where the tooth enters the gum! That is, to tilt the brush a little and force the outermost bristles into that spot. Then you don't have to worry about tartar and periodontal disease.

The new type of iO heads is an improvement on the previous version - the resulting feeling is that the fibres are as if denser together and cleaning is thus better (also helped by the new iO brush system thanks to the recesses). I used to use the Curaprox toothbrush in the SOFT version, and the Ultimate Clean suits my iO without any problems - you need to use the toothbrush correctly together with a suitable cleaning program (but this was also true for the previous Oral B variant). I combine this version together with the Radiant White heads, I change every now and then and the cleaning is perfect.
