After two weeks of intensively testing the Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G model in the 8GB RAM variant, with a generous 512GB of storage and in the impressive purple colour, I have to say that Xiaomi is once again raising the bar for what you can get on the market for a reasonable price. The phone combines a premium look, solid battery life and performance that will easily satisfy even a more demanding user. In terms of price-to-performance ratio, it's one of the biggest kings of its class, which I can recommend with a clear conscience.

The phone has brilliant battery life, a display with vibrant colours, a fast response when playing games or using apps, a camera that can capture great moments and details, and video recording at a high frame rate.

I bought the Xiaomi Redmi 17 Pro 5G phone as the very first smartphone for my daughter and I have to say, it has met most of my expectations. What I appreciate most about this model is the fantastic value for money, which is really hard to beat in this category. For a reasonable price, you get a swift and reliable device that can handle everything today's kids need.
A big plus that ultimately convinced me to buy it was the great accompanying offer for a future screen repair and battery replacement. With younger children, where falls and scrapes are much more common, this is a huge advantage and gives you significantly more peace of mind.
However, if I had to mention a downside, it would definitely be the size of the phone itself. I wish manufacturers would still make more compact models. For a child's hand, the current display is unnecessarily huge and difficult for her to hold. Personally, I think a straight 6 inches would be perfectly adequate for comfortable one-handed use and content consumption. Overall, though, we are very satisfied with the device as a gateway into the world of technology.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G is a well-made mid-range phone that mainly impresses with its long battery life, nice AMOLED display, and rich feature set. For everyday use, the performance is more than sufficient, and the 256GB storage offers plenty of space for apps, photos, and videos. The fast charging, IP68 resistance, and modern features like eSIM are also a plus.
Excellent battery life thanks to the large battery.
A nice and smooth 120Hz AMOLED display.
Fast 67W charging
Lacks the option to shoot 4K video

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G 6/256GB offers an excellent AMOLED display, a huge battery, and a solid set of features for a reasonable price. The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 isn't a performance beast, but it's more than enough for everyday use, social media, multimedia, and even some light gaming. The IP68 resistance, eSIM, and fast 67W charging are also big pluses.
Huge 8340mAh battery
High-quality 6.83" 120Hz AMOLED display
67W fast charging
IP68 and Gorilla Glass
Only 6GB RAM
Video only 1080p/30fps

So far, the phone has met all expectations. The camera takes great photos too. Excellent screen response and facial recognition. No complaints. I can only recommend it.
The fingerprint scanner doesn't work on some screen protectors, the manufacturer recommends the original one from Xiaomi.
