After a long pause, Google introduced another premium version of the Chrome OS operating system, which will be named Google Pixelbook. Compared to the older Google Pixel Chromebook, this time we'll see a chromebook with much higher performance, more storage and ultra-slim design. When will the Google Pixelbook 2017 appear on our market, what will be the price and what can we look forward to? In our article, you'll learn everything you know about the new Google Pixelbook!
First of all, it should be emphasized that the Google Pixelbook is not a classic notebook - it's a 2-in-1 convertible device that will create a tablet within a few moments. As with other Tablet PCs and Pixelbooks, thanks to special joints, the screen can rotate up to 360 degrees to maximize the PC's customization.
At first glance, the Google Pixelbook is a design. The surface of the laptop body is made of aluminum, which is complemented by a glass panel on the back. The glass is also made up of a touchpad surface, a backlit keyboard with silicone pad for comfortable writing and a 0.8 mm low stroke (MacBook design). Because it clearly links to Google Pixel 2 phones, Google is trying to symbolically link its two new devices.
The great advantage of the Google Pixelbook is its ultralight design and weight - in its composite state, its thickness is only 10 mm and weighs 1.1 kg. This is undoubtedly the thinnest notebook Google has ever produced, and is one of the thinnest laptops on the market.
The Google Pixelbook will have a comparable display such as the MacBook 12 "2017 or Microsoft Surface Pro.This chromebook offers a 12.3-inch touchscreen LCD screen with high QHD resolution (2,400 × 1,600) and a softness of 235 PPI. with a capacity of 41 Wh that should climb up to 10 hours (today's average), with a built-in Quick Charging feature that lets notebooks charge the notebook for two hours of operation in about 15 minutes via USB-C connector, 802.11ac support and latest Bluetooth version 4.2.
Compared to other Chromebooks, Google Pixelbook certainly does not lose power. Although we do not know any particular models yet, we already know that Intel's Kaby Lake processors of the 7th generation are also in the guts. It will be possible to choose between three variants of the Google Pixelbook , cheaper versions are equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor with 8GB RAM, only the capacity of SSD storage with NVMe - 128 or 256 GB fast interface. There will also be a premium, and therefore a more powerful, Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD storage.
Chrome OS is most popular with students because it is an extremely lightweight operating system that does not require a lot of performance. Its easy to use and virtually all Chrome OS applications download from the Google Play store . Typically, however, these are simple web applications.
It is important to mention that Google's operating system is doing almost everything online, and it looks much like an enhanced Google Chrome browser. However, if you do not have access to the Internet on your chromebook, the functionality of your device is severely limited at the moment.
Google Pixelbook will be the first chromebook to support the stylus . For this opportunity, Google has even created a completely unique stylus for the Pixelbook Pixelbook Pen. It is a special tool that supports creativity, and in combination with Google Assistant allows you to maximize the potential of the touch screen.
The Pixelbook Pen does not need to be charged using a computer, because it is powered by AAAA batteries. It does not require any lengthy pairing with your computer. According to information from Google, the new stylus can recognize up to 2,000 sensitivity levels in a 60 degree tilt range, all with an extremely fast response of 10 milliseconds. But less pleasant information is that the Pixelbook Pen is not a standard part of the package, and its price in the US is about $ 99 (nearly $ 2,200).
Just like Google Pixel 2 smartphones , the Google Pixelbook has been created to work with Google Assistant. You can even find a special button on your keyboard to wake the smart assistant, so you can start asking questions right away.
A great pair of Google Assistant is just a new stylus - simply mark an image or any part of the screen, and the assistant will give you a lot of related links and answers when you click on the button. Unfortunately, Google Assistant does not yet support Czech , so hopefully it will soon change.
Thanks to similar design and comparable equipment, Google Pixelbook can be considered one of the largest competitor of Microsoft's Surface Laptop Premium Series. Although Microsoft Surface has a slightly larger display (13.5 "), most of the two devices are almost identical, so why choose?
What is most different is, of course, the operating system. Microsoft, like Google, has been part of the development of lightweight OS and has come to the world of Windows 10 S that is tailored to new Surface laptops. Like Chrome OS, Windows 10 places great emphasis on the security and smoothness of running the system - you do not run other applications and programs than those in the official store . And while Chrome OS is the same, it has a marginal advantage over Windows 10. The number of applications for Chrome OS currently exceeds the number of applications available on the Windows Store.
The new Google Pixelbook chromebook is likely to be sold in the United States in late October or early November . The price of the cheapest variant (Core i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD) will start at 999 dollars (about 22,000 CZK) and the premium option (Core i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) will be available for $ 1,649 CZK). For our market, the availability and price of the new chromebook are not yet widely known. And so is not yet sure whether Google will come up with something new in this segment at the upcoming CES 2018 trade fair .
We in Alze believe that you will soon be offering new chromebooks. We will bring you more information about availability and price as soon as possible.
