It's perfectly fine to sit on.
I just picked it up for a test, I have a "leather" gaming chair, but since I put it on the chair I've been sitting on it: D for a month now and it will probably stay that way.
The underside is "rubberized", I wondered for a while if it would scratch the chair somehow, but so far I don't notice anything
I will be able to evaluate best in the summer
For the price, I'm fine.
As the top surface is mesh, crumbs can get stuck in there (but you don't eat at your desk: D ). Just dust it off and you're good to go.
