Given the space, I got swept up in the wave of soundbars. Read reviews, videos, recommendations, articles, spent many many days choosing price/performance and bought these. That's terrible! But, like, really awful! You could say I was just surrounded by noise. But it is true that I have already compared the reproduction quality with my hifi setup. This soundbar has a central speaker under the TV and two rear monitors. Even when the center tries to simulate a left and right front channel with his bounce, he can't get it. You just hear the center and the back two speakers with a delay. Is that what they call a home theater? For movies, music, anything, the front left/right channel is simply the most important. From this point of view, the best quality speakers from the line-up must also be used for these. That's why with passive 5.0 or 5.1 setups, there are speakers in the front and the requirement for effects in the back is not so much, so a bookshelf or other satellite speaker is used. This barrel simply lacks this left and right front channel! And you can't achieve them with reflections, even if you try hard. Reflections don't do what repros do. So I was recommended a JBL 800 barrel for 20k I think. But if I want quality music, I'm told to try Adam Audio. He was impressed by the reviews of the T7V's amazing reproduction and tried them out. I have already written a review about this T7V speaker here. From this point of view, even the 20 sounbar might have more surround sound than this cheap sony, but it will be a soundbar in terms of quality. It's better to have quality 2.0 for movies and just about anywhere, than a smoky, dingy 5.1,7.1,9.1 soudbar. The soundbar will "conjure up" the room by reflection, but for me you will still be surrounded by noise, not quality clean reproduction. I've heard the swishing of laser swords behind me at the barrels of movies. That delayed effect of something in the rear speakers, I think that's it. If you want quality sound for movies, ditch the barrels, save up a few months and go to a hifistudio. It's really better to have a better quality 2.0 with good acoustics than a muddy 11.2 soundbar reproduction with room calibration and channel simulation by reflection. Try a quality 2.0 or 5.1 with quality amplified speakers and hide the barrel in the cabinet. And if you insist on a barrel, try the JBL 800 for 20k. The cheaper ones are really noisy and a waste of money.
