Pocket Knives

Pocket knives are the most common, most versatile, have a simple design and compact dimensions (blade length up to 12 cm).

Knife types

  • Classic (one-purpose) - a typical pocket knife with a normal classic blade. Its advantages are low weight, smaller size, and ease of use.
  • Multi-purpose - apart from the blade they also include a variety of other tools. The number of tools depends on what the knife is designed for.
    • Camping - aside from the main blade, these knives are equipped with a host of other tools that you come in handy when camping or hiking. Expect to find a bottle and can opener, corkscrew, wood saw, screwdriver or two, piercer, and so on.
    • DIY - aside from the main blade they include, for example, a can opener, screwdriver, nail file, scissors, bit extension, chisel, ballpen, LED flashlight, hammer, and many other tools.
  • Rescue (for security and rescue forces) – include  tools designed for cutting ropes, seat belts and cables, or smashing glass.
  • Mushroom - folding knives with a rounded blade, finely serrated edge, and cleaning brush.
  • Gardening - have diverse blades, adapted for pruning shrubs and other horticultural applications.
  • For children - their handles are specifically adapted for a child's hand and the blade has a rounded tip, which minimises the risk of injury.

Blade material

Stainless steel

  • The most commonly used material – the alloy contains at least 13% of chromium, which gives the blade higher resistance to corrosion and makes it easier to maintain.
  • Compared to carbon blades, they dull faster and are harder to sharpen.

Carbon steel

  • Contains more carbon, which improves cutting properties and makes it easier to sharpen.
  • Carbon blades are not as corrosion resistant and have higher maintenance requirements.

Damascus steel

  • Tough, hard, and resistant to breakage.
  • Popular among artistic blacksmiths - blades have distinctive patterns and mottling.
