Sleeping Bags

Choose a sleeping bag depending on the expected temperatures and types of environment in which you will use it. Travelers and hikers should pay particular attention to the weight and pack size.

Materials

  • Synthetic fibers - suitable for wet environments, does not need any significant maintenance, and is ideal for allergy sufferers.
  • Down - a traditional material with excellent insulating properties, therefore suitable for very low temperatures. Needs proper drying after each use.

Size and shape

Consider your height when choosing the right sleeping bag. The minimum size should be slightly longer than your height.

  • Rectangular sleeping bags - roomy and comfortable, ideal as a substitute for traditional blankets or for individuals with atypical physique.
  • Mummy sleeping bags - minimize heat loss, the best design for extreme conditions.

Season ratings

  • Summer - lightweight models, ideal for indoor use or summer camping in mild weather (> 10 °C).
  • Winter - warm sleeping bags for cold winter nights (-25 °C to 0 °C).
  • Three-season - universal sleeping bags for all-season use (-10 to +20 °C).

Proper maintenance and use

  • For long-term storage, unpack the sleeping bag out of its stuff sack. This will prevent the insulation from getting permanently compressed, therefore losing its insulating properties.
  • If possible, wash your sleeping bag by hand. When using a washing machine, set the lowest speed and disable spin-drying.
  • Because synthetic fibers could be damaged by high temperatures, always dry your synthetic sleeping bag at low heat or just hang it out on a washing line. Down sleeping bags are best line-dried, unzipped, away from direct heat or strong sunlight.
  • Before going on a trip, carefully inspect both your sleeping bag and sleeping mat, your tent, flashlight, backpack, and other equipment.

Sleeping Bags

Sleeping bags provide you with warmth and comfort in tents, overnight stays in a cottage or under the open sky. There are some types of sleeping bags for use under different conditions, sleeping bags for adults or children's sleeping bags. Choose a high quality Hannah sleeping bag, Mivardy sleeping bag or some filmmaker sleeping bag.

Which sleeping bag?

You can choose a sleeping bag with spring filling or synthetic material. Feather sleeping bags are more suitable for larger and more dry cold, as they are better insulated. In a humid environment and for allergic persons, sleeping bags with a synthetic filling are better. Sleeping bags also differ according to the temperature for which they are suitable. A winter sleeping bag has better warming properties, while the summer sleeping bag is intended for milder temperatures above 10°C and higher. The three-season sleeping bag can be used in colder weather as well as in the warmer summer.

Sleeping bags for children

Children's sleeping bags offer perfect comfort for children and smaller persons. The child's sleeping bag is shorter and thus lighter. The children's sleeping bag is ideal for school trips, holiday camps and excursions. A component of a high-quality children's sleeping bag is an anatomical cut or a warm collar.
