The quality of the bearings is indicated using the ABEC scale. This ranges from 1 to 9, where the number 9 represents the best bearing. The better the bearing, the less resistance it has. If you travel more often, we recommend selecting bearings with at least an ABEC 5 rating. Quality bearings should spin quietly and without jolting for a longer period of time than lower quality bearings.
You will also find some ILQ and SG rated bearings. These types that have nothing to do with the ABEC scale. ILQ is a label from Twincam and is manufactured in two versions, ILQ-7 and ILQ-9. Bearings marked SG are used by Rollerblades and each type is rated like ABEC, i.e. 1-9. The higher the number, the better, but it this rating has no relevance to the ABEC rating.
