What happened to the author of the manuscript that no one is allowed to read and everyone is afraid of?
The Silkworm, the second book in the highly acclaimed detective series featuring Cormoran Strike and his energetic young assistant Robin Ellacott, is a gripping and compelling story.
When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife turns to private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, she believes he has just disappeared for a few days – he has done it a few times before – and she just wants Strike to find him and bring him home.
But as the investigation progresses, it becomes increasingly clear to Strike that there is more to Quine's disappearance than his wife thinks. The novelist has just finished a manuscript portraying almost all his acquaintances with vitriolic malice. If the novel were published, it would ruin many lives. Therefore, there are plenty of people who might have wanted to silence him. And when Quine is found brutally murdered under bizarre circumstances, a race against time begins to understand the motivations of a cruel killer, a killer unlike any Strike has ever encountered before…
A dangerous manuscript. A brutal murder. A thrilling investigation.

A damn good read, and a couple that will capture your heart.

The Silkworm is the second gripping detective story starring Cormoran Strike, following last year's hit The Cuckoo's Calling. Compelling observations, a fast-paced plot and a dash of sardonic humour.

Joanne Kathleen Rowling (born 31 July 1965 in Yate), a British writer who writes under the name J. K. Rowling. She is best known for her children's book series about the apprentice wizard Harry Potter, which achieved worldwide success, won numerous awards, and has sold over 400 million copies. All 7 volumes have also been adapted into films. After finishing the Harry Potter series, the author began writing for adults. However, for her next book, a detective novel of a completely different genre, she decided to use a pseudonym and pose as a "fledgling writer, Robert Galbraith". Rowling's secret came out when The Sunday Times began to wonder how a debut author could have created such a brilliant work. "I had hoped to keep this secret a little longer because being Robert Galbraith has been such a liberating experience," Rowling said. "It has been wonderful to publish without hype or expectation, and pure pleasure to get feedback under a different name," she added. One reviewer called the book a "fascinating debut," and another praised the male author's ability to describe women's clothes. A clue to the real author was the fact that Rowling and "Galbraith" share the same agent and publisher. Similarities in style between the new detective novel and Rowling's other works can also be found. In addition to writing the Harry Potter books, Rowling is also known for her life story, in which she went from living on social benefits to becoming a multi-millionaire in five years.
