A matchmaker of kindred spirits

Even as a child in 1910, Sara Glikman knew her gift: she could find people's soulmates and bring them together. But in Manhattan's Jewish community, matchmaking is considered a man's privilege, and they refuse to recognise a girl in their profession. For ten years, Sara secretly matches future spouses, but sooner or later she will have to fight for her rightful place among the others and gain the recognition she deserves.

Sara's granddaughter, Abby, is a successful Manhattan divorce lawyer who represents the wealthiest clients. When her beloved grandmother Sara dies, Abby inherits her collection of handwritten diaries detailing the couples Sara had matched. However, within the faded pages, Abby finds more questions than answers.

Why did her grandmother leave her records to her? What is Abby supposed to learn from them? Why does the job Abby once found so interesting suddenly seem completely meaningless and dubious? Is Abby willing to sacrifice the career she worked so hard for to fulfil her grandmother's mysterious promise to a stranger? And is there really such a thing as love at first sight?
