The Mystery of the Autumn Waters
A cold, gloomy October on the island of Öland. Joachim ignored the superstitions about the island and moved his family to the Åluden farmstead. However, this homestead was built from the wood of a shipwreck, and the place has brought nothing but misfortune to all its inhabitants. One day, the body of Joachim's wife, Katrin, is found. She drowned under truly mysterious circumstances. What is happening at Åluden? And what role does Joachim's sister, with whom the family had cut contact some time ago, play in all this?
The best Swedish crime novel of 2008!
Johan Theorin
Johan Theorin was born on 3 September 1963 in Gothenburg. From childhood, he spent every summer on the island of Öland, which had a fateful influence on his later literary work. His mother's family, who were mainly sailors, fishermen, and farmers, had lived there for centuries, preserving the island's heritage, mysterious tales, and folklore. This almost mystical environment inspired him to create a series of stories in which he masterfully combines the genius loci of Öland with a detective plot. He currently lives in Gothenburg and works as a journalist. This is one of the reasons why he is often compared to Stieg Larsson. Full description
