The year is 2121. After an event that came to be known as the Restart, the Czech Basin is nothing more than a radioactive wasteland. But there's no need to despair. The old faith has returned and, just as it always has, it wants to save us all. Hopefully it will turn out better than last time. But the outlook is not all rosy. As if the excessive radiation wasn't enough, a new threat has emerged, one that the burgeoning civilisations of the Wasteland are ill-equipped to handle: an army of mutants armed with technology that no one should possess. A man who is in every way a mere shadow of his former self must therefore leave the safety of the underground Vault. And he used to be many things: a killer, a leader, a prophet… a hero. To protect what little he has left, Scarecrow will have to quickly remember it all again.
And you can bet that you won't have enough fingers on one mutated hand to count all those who will die during this recollection. And probably not on the other one either…
About the Author Jakub Hoza
Born in 1978 in Benešov. Although he long thought a hat and whip would suit him, he ended up studying "Electronic Computer Systems" and now works in the IT department of an unnamed health insurance company. He primarily writes "deviant" dark fantasy and "splatterpunk" action sci-fi. To date, he has published seven books (Theatre Macabre, Okovy osudu, Projít ohněm, Do pekla a zpět, Jako sama smrt, Spálená země, and Sochaři masa) and occasionally contributes short stories to Pevnost magazine. For more than thirty years, Hoza has been engaged in the theoretical and practical study of close-quarters combat, especially with bladed weapons. Some of the walls in his Prague flat are so hung with steel that they look like a castle armoury. Besides that, he devotes himself mainly to his family and writing. He sometimes enjoys re-reading something by his favourite authors: Sapkowski, Kulhánek, and Pratchett.
