Children of Anger

The story with a detective plot takes the reader to the bleak environment of Ostrava's periphery, where the body of a murdered man is found. Although the first clues of the police investigation lead almost unerringly to a local weirdo, the investigators gradually begin to unravel a complex web between people from completely different social classes. On one side are the new "elite" in the form of businessman Daniel Gavla and politician Jana Bittnerová, and against them is the gambler Pavel, his sister and father. Although it might seem that the only link between these characters is their more or less successful balancing on the edge of the law, the reader soon begins to suspect that they are connected by much more. Moreover, the story is enriched by a narrative line going back to pre-war times and revealing not only the background of the detective plot, but above all how easily one becomes a victim of anger, historical events and justice delayed.
