The Arvelian Unconscious: the twenty-year period following the transfer of an ageing person into a newborn, during which the transferred person does not recall their previous lives. It ensures the proper brain development of the new body while protecting the adult personality from the psychological burden of living in a child's shell. It allows the transferred individual to gain a view of the world unburdened by past experience, thus facilitating the acceptance of a new era and its social and technological changes.

Konstantyn Lance is experiencing the Arvelian Unconscious for the fifty-fifth time, and it is no easier for him than the first time. Along with a thousand years of experience and memories, he awakens to the realisation that the fate of two civilisations fighting over dwindling resources – Arvel and the Territories – lies in his hands. Queen Reina of Arvel doubts to what extent Konstantyn is still human and whether he will be willing to save humanity, and so she is setting a trap. Meanwhile, in the Territories, the dictator Illya Larsson is taking power. His actions could easily shatter the carefully prepared plan.
