The monograph is based on the authors' long experience of working with offenders in prisons and educational institutions. In this environment, challenging life situations occur, sometimes even dramatic. The subsequent reactions of the offenders are also reflected in their artistic activities and written expressions. The analysis of these materials has considerable potential both in the diagnosis and in the process of resocialization of convicts.

The aim of the art therapy approach is to eliminate the effects of stressful situations on the psyche and personality and to achieve resocialization goals, i.e. to correct the behaviour of offenders so that it is within socially acceptable norms.

The publication begins with a theoretical part, which is devoted to defining the concepts in the field of etiology of delinquency and criminality and to capturing the typical personality traits and characteristics of offenders. It also presents current issues of constitutional and penitentiary practice.

The practical part of the book presents examples of the art and written work of the incarcerated and analyzes it in the context of the factors that cause the emergence and development of delinquent and criminal behavior. Thanks to this, the results of classical psychodiagnostic methods are enriched with unique findings, unrepeatable for a given personality. This offers the reader a unique opportunity to learn about the hidden motives that lead people to commit serious criminal acts.
