After the death of King Vratislav I. In 1092, a time comes that is one of the most dramatic in the history of the Czech medieval state. Among the members of the next generation of the adorable Přemyslid clan, a power struggle is taking place, with the Queen Dowager Svatava intervening as a grey eminence. Against the background of the chaotic succession of Přemyslid princes on the Stone Table, there is also a struggle between the rising Christianity and the fading paganism. The intertwined invisible threads of the two heated feuds eventually converge on one point - the Benedictine monastery of Ostrov, surrounded by the Vltava River, where the learned monk Eberhard from the famous monastery of Reichenau arrives as the executor of a liquidation decree against the representatives of the old faith. Those who do not voluntarily leave the country face death by burning or drowning. His encounter with the last and most powerful priestess will affect not only his fate, but that of the entire principality.
