Hate
Two murderers, double the threat. Lucia Guerrera's second case.
In Galicia, an unknown attacker is murdering women who rush to work early every morning. They are inconspicuous. Invisible. Suddenly, literally erased from our world... Meanwhile, in Madrid, a very dangerous assassin is attacking select billionaires, leaving a short but telling message on the walls of their residences: DEATH TO THE RICH. The two seemingly different worlds of two different killers have one thing in common – an unprecedented and explosive confrontation between the social classes of modern Europe. Investigator Lucia is playing a high-stakes game. But who is the victim and who is the hunter? Is the commissioner ultimately just a mere toy in the hands of ruthless murderers?
Bernard Minier
Bernard Minier grew up in the southwest of France and spent his childhood in the Pyrenees. He studied at the University of Toulouse, where the main character of several of his thrillers, Martin Servaz, also comes from. He has lived near Paris for over twenty years, is married, and has two children. Before Minier surprised French readers and critics with his crime novel The Frozen Dead in 2011, he worked as a customs officer. This late, and perhaps for that reason mature, debut won several awards, such as the Elle magazine readers' prize (in the crime category) and, most notably, the prestigious Prix Polar at the Cognac festival of crime literature. The Frozen Dead was translated into several world languages, including English, and was also adapted into the French television series Glacé. Minier's other books have also been met with success from both readers and critics. In the Czech Republic, they are published in the brilliant translation by Jiří Žák.
