Experiences of a surgeon who went on a Yemen mission with Doctors Without Borders
Going on a mission as a surgeon with Doctors Without Borders doesn't just mean putting the burst intestines back in the abdomen. Despite the daily thunder of gunfire, the omnipresent threat of cholera, the operations of badly shot children and the lack of sleep, Tomáš Šebek tries to observe everyday life under the veil of war on his Yemeni mission. How do Muslim women doctors live? What human stories are hidden behind the faces of our patients and what do our names reveal about us?
This is what Tomáš Šebek describes in his latest book from the scene of the world's biggest humanitarian disaster, but he does not forget to include a sense of humour and exaggeration.
