Kurt Gebauer is a sculptor, painter and photographer. And sometimes a writer. That is why we bring you a book of his poems, dreams and other texts that he personally illustrated. It also includes a text by Lenka Klodová, which gives you a glimpse into his teaching career.
As I wrote
I've always written but not published. If nobody wants to, then why not? So, finally, someone wanted to. In my youth I kept diaries, notes with drawings on my travels, wrote letters to my mother, my wife, etc. Besides, little texts, poems – on the train, in the pub over a small beer, when I had a dream I could remember. My writing was improved by prof. The bib – Czech teacher at the Sculpture and Stone School in Hořice, who trained with us various types of texts. For example, a reflection or description of the workflow so that everyone understands it. Another important teacher for me was František Kafka, sorry Franz Kafka. I was fascinated by his endless sentences, and then I also sometimes overdo it, so I put a period here and there. As for verse, when I was in the army with the U-boats, a lance corporal, a graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Charles University, brought me French poets. I was fascinated and recited them while on night watch and also made up my own verses. Rimbaud, Verlaine, Baudelaire, Apollinaire. Otherwise, I don't like many poets. Lately I've been writing a bit of badass poetry, an exercise in „ R“ for the grandkids or a little bit of that existential politics. But that's for another time. In this book, I offer a bit of essays on what seems strange, even dangerous. Maybe it will help someone to recover, or if not, someone might be amused. Or annoyed. That has already happened.
