The Most Important Organs of the Czech Republic
As the name suggests, the aim of this unique publication is to present organ instruments in the Czech Republic that are significant or valuable in some way. The beauty or value of an organ may not be immediately apparent at first glance. In addition to the value of its age, an artistically valuable facade, or the organ's connection to a significant figure in music or the visual arts, the internal mechanism of individual organs, their importance for the history and development of organ building, their originality, and especially their sound can also be interesting and valuable. All these aspects played a role in the selection of the instruments included in the book. In the introductory text, the reader will be briefly acquainted with the terminology and construction of the organ. There is also an outline of the history of organ building and the importance of the organ today. The following pages of the book then feature over 110 organs from all over the Czech Republic, from the end of the 16th century to the present day, which are presented not only with text but also with rich pictorial accompaniment.
