Jonathan receives an urgent phone call: Grandma is on her last legs. The young man grabs his father' s military helmet, gets in the car and heads for Helsinki. Grandma thinks, that her son Mikko arrived, but Jonathan reminds her, that Mikko is long dead, and asks, if he can remember anything good about his deceased mentally ill son – the epitome of a “starving artist”. Grandma doesn' t feel like reminiscing, so Jonathan decides to follow the footsteps of the past to his and his father' s childhood and write his own story: The result is a carnival-like, vibrant tragicomic autofiction full of unique characters, cruel life experiences caused by his father' s unmanageable mental illness, but also unprecedented, incorrect black humor that gets under the reader' s skin.
