Secrets of the Treasure Cave

The Secret of Treasure Cave is a thrilling story that teaches children that the most valuable treasures cannot be counted in money. It is an adventure story in the Foglar tradition about friendship, suspense, good deeds, and learning lessons. Twelve-year-old boys Jindra and Vojta have only known each other for a short time. While Vojta was born in Klárov, Jindra moved there relatively recently. When Jindra was being picked on by a gang of ninth-graders, Vojta didn't hesitate for a second and rushed to help his weaker friend. And so, a great friendship was born. One day, in a library book, Jindra discovers a message addressed to an unknown Kája, stating that a notebook with directions to a treasure cave is hidden in the pillar of the Red Army Bridge. Vojta and Jindra decide to find the notebook. But where to look for a bridge that changed its name long ago? An old man, Mr. Pávek, gives the boys a tip, and the adventure to the river can begin. They are not deterred in their search even by an anonymous letter threatening that something terrible will happen to them. The boys have no idea that the author of the letter is the mysterious Kája, now an old man named Mr. Krejčíř. They get the notebook and, together with Mr. Krejčíř, search for the treasure in the cave. Vojta's cousin Tereza also joins their group. The children imagine all the things they will buy with the treasure they are sure to find. But the treasure isn't jewellery and precious stones, but prehistoric cave paintings. Just as the members of the expedition realise the value of their discovery, a siren sounds. A rock blast destroys the entire cave, and the explorers are just glad to have escaped alive and well.
