Bohdan is a closed girl living only with a grumpy father and a kind-hearted but submissive White. She is troubled by tension in the house and a secret that keeps shaking her head: Why did a badly ill grandma call her "Blanko" at her last visit to the hospital?

In addition, there is the story of Svatopluk Žák, a devoted Communist who devoted his whole life to building socialism, love for his wife and daughter, whose future was supposed to be as brilliant as the star on the Red Banner. But as they say: If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans. So at one point the two stories merge into one, and it turns out that nothing is as it seemed, and certainly not as it should be.

Nový román Aleny Mornštajnové Tiché roky je jiný než ty předchozí. It is not a great historical theme, but an intimate family drama where the main role is not played by great history but by coincidences and human characters. Stejně jako u románu Hana však jde o silný, strhujícím způsobem vyprávěný příběh, který si čtenáře podmaní od první do poslední stránky.

Alena Mornštajnová

(b. 1963) studied English and Czech at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava. She worked as an English language lecturer and translator and now works as a writer. He lives in Valašské Meziříčí. Debutovala v roce 2013 románem Slepá mapa, druhý román Hotýlek vyšel v roce 2015. Především díky svému třetímu románu Hana z roku 2017 se Alena Mornštajnová stala jednou z nejoblíbenějších současných českých spisovatelek.

Román Hana se překládá do deseti cizích jazyků a získal řadu ocenění — mimo jiné obdržel Cenu Česká kniha 2018 a stal se Knihou roku 2017 na Databázi knih.
