A constant f/2.8 maximum aperture delivers consistent performance throughout the zoom range, perfect for working in trying light conditions, and the optical elements are fine-tuned to capture the finest details with exceptional operational efficiency. Professional photographers will appreciate its three-position switch for Quick-Shift Focus System (QFS/A, QFS/M and MF) for faster and more accurate focus on the subject.

A novel feature is its new Aero Bright Coating layer for optimum light transmission. The HD coating improves contrast and colour rendition, while effectively reducing shadows and glare. The lens is coated with an SP (Super Protect) layer, which is a special fluorine compound applied onto the lens through a vapour deposition process. SP effectively repels dust, water and grease, but also helps with fingerprint and cosmetic cream smears. The construction incorporates a super-low dispersion glass element to effectively compensate chromatic aberration.
