Image Processing Technology - PLS

PLS, or Plane-to-Line Switching, is a type of LCD image processing technology. PLS can be seen as a newer version of IPS (In-Plane Switching). The principle of image formation is exactly the same as with IPS monitors. Both technologies provide natural colour reproduction and wide viewing angles at 180 degrees, so the screen is clearly visible from all sides while the colour tone remains unchanged. Compared with the older IPS technology, however, PLS represents a slight advantage with better contrast and lower power consumption.

PLS or Plane-to-Line Switching

Compared with other LCD display technologies, PLS offers better viewing angles with almost no change of colour. Compared with the older TN technology, PLS offers much better contrast. This is mainly due to a more realistic representation of black. Conversely, a slight disadvantage is the higher cost of production and associated higher selling price.
