The D-Link DIR-842 router works as two individual wireless routers in one. The 2.4GHz wireless band features speeds up to 300Mb/sec, while the 5GHz band offers a staggering speed of up to 867Mb/sec. Both bands are operated simultaneously. For the slower band, we recommend connecting devices such as a printer or an older PC. Game consoles and modern mobile phones should be hooked up to the 5GHz band, which they can use to the fullest.

Easy to use
The initial setting for sharing an Internet connection is not a complicated process. Just open your web browser and open a setup wizard that will guide you through the configuration step by step.
The second option is to download the configuration mobile app for Android or iOS devices. The new device can then be connected using WiFi Protected Setup (WPS). Merely pressing the WPS button creates a secure connection without having to enter a password.
