The day is beautiful

Eighteen-year-old blonde Grace Gilmore, from a good family, had lived like a porcelain doll under a glass dome. All the pieces in her shiny mosaic were in their rightful place: beautiful and loving parents, a prince on a white horse ready to marry her, a high school diploma, and the promise of her dream university. But it only took a single night and three low blows from a merciless fate for the carefully constructed dominoes to fall, forcing Grace to re-evaluate her entire world.

With the shattered pieces of her illusions in her rucksack and fragments of her old life in her heart, Grace rebels against the perfect future that everyone but her has decided on. She embarks on a spontaneous road trip across the United States, determined to follow her instincts and her dreams.

In New York, she meets Channing, an impolite but kind young man of breathtaking beauty. His blue eyes light up the grey sky of Grace's heart like a bolt of lightning. And it seems as if fate wants to intertwine the paths of these two young people, as they share various stages of their journey from Pennsylvania to Ohio, from Kentucky to Illinois, and even on the famous Route 66.

And while Grace must learn to recognise her new, authentic emotions, so far removed from her old life, Channing must come to terms with a tragic secret from his own life that threatens their dream of a beautiful future together.
