Emotions and interpersonal relationships
The book explains the issue of emotions in a historical cross-section of key concepts up to the current conception, which attributes a decisive role to cognitive processes in the emergence and explanation of emotions. The course and expression of emotions are subject to regulation, especially with respect to social situations, but emotions themselves are an essential factor in the regulation of human behaviour. Although certain genetically transmitted patterns of experience cannot be denied, as a result of socialization, emotions take on an extraordinarily wide and varied range of expressions that are socioculturally conditioned. Interpersonal relationships are the most important source of emotions. They display simple emotions found in ordinary interpersonal interactions as well as more complex social emotions. In close relationships, emotions are an essential characteristic. The work is intended for the professional public, but it can also be beneficial for a wider range of readers interested in the role of emotions in human relationships.
