Jane Eyre B1/B2
Charlotte Brontë's most famous work, a novel about a courageous young woman who endures great hardship but ultimately finds happiness, is one of the pinnacles of English literature. The author masterfully portrays the transformation of a fragile young girl into a self-assured woman who defies social conventions to follow her heart's desire. For the Victorian era in which it was written, the novel was remarkably progressive. The romantic love plot and the archetypal romantic hero, the charismatic Mr Rochester, are complemented by realistic elements and spiced up with Gothic motifs, such as inexplicable mysteries and the gloomy atmosphere of Thornfield. This publication offers a shortened version of the novel, intended for intermediate English students. It allows readers to become acquainted with a masterpiece of English literature while practising their English. The book includes an abridged and adapted version of the novel in its original language, alongside a parallel Czech translation. The MP3 audio recording, narrated by a native speaker, is available for free on the publisher's website.
